Children Of God Must Be Spiritually Minded
(Passage: Matthew 22)
Anyone who intends to enjoy God’s benefits must operate in faith. You have to live by faith to satisfy God. Period!
What is faith, and why does faith matter to appease God?
The Bible states, “Faith is the substance of things that we hope for and the evidence of things we have not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). The Bible states, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).”
Indeed, it takes spiritual mindedness to understand God and serve him well. Normal human perception can not be adequate to understand God.
This lesson can be better understood by studying how the Sadducees sect operated in the Bible. They based their understanding of God on human knowledge, so they fell into gross error.
The Sadducees questioned Jesus on the subject of resurrection because they had the prenotion that it is not possible for a dead person to come to life again. (They doubted resurrection).
The Sadducees who already had their minds made up asked Jesus,
“If there is a resurrection, who would be the husband of a woman who had several previous marriages before she died?”
Jesus Christ corrected the skeptics and said,
“You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching” (Matthew 22:29-33).
To Understand God Requires A Spiritual Mind
Anyone who has the hope of enjoying God and his benefits must live by faith. You will be better off serving God by faith than to waste time questioning his power!
God appreciates people who operate in faith. He dislikes those who live in doubt. In fact, it is possible for someone to provoke God with doubt.
To operate in faith and enjoy God, a person must not always seek some natural means of explaining the matters of the Spirit. Why? Because “God is a Spirit, and those who serve
