Unity: Christians Must Unite To Make Gospel Thrive
(Passage: Romans 14)
Christians must understand the need for unity in the body of Christ and actively work to promote it. Believers must work together as one for the common goal of honoring God, and promoting his kingdom.
Not only is scripture frown at segregation, but it also requests that we put aside things that can degenerate to unhealthy competition and rivalry, which of course, are detrimental to gospel expansion.
Let’s consider this example:
For a Christian to guide against disunity in Christian fold, he (or she) must not allow his background, tradition, or church doctrine to cloud his judgment in relating with other believers. He must properly relate with all Christians.
A Christian must not be obsessed with his church denomination and look down on others. Instead, we must operate in the spirit of unity to promote the name of Christ.
The Bible states,
“He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:6-8).
Human Tradition Plays No Role In Our Salvation
Our various traditions and backgrounds have not earned us the salvation of Jesus Christ.
We are saved by grace, and grace alone!
Christian must understand that lack of unity is harmful to God’s kingdom. Unfortunately, Satan tricks people to focus on another matter that is more or less self-gratification (pride).
A person who thinks he is better than others is proud. Period! No Christian should be found in this sector.
God expects us (his children) to serve him in faith, purity, and liberty of the Spirit, without getting carried away with our races, colors, and backgrounds.
The most important thing that everyone must commonly share is “Faith in Jesus Christ.” Other things are secondary.
According to Romans 14:6-8 earlier quoted,
God allows true worship with the liberty of the spirit. If a person is adept in Mosaic Laws
